Cell Phone FAQs
Q. How can I change the outging mail (SMTP) password on my iPhone?
A. In the iPhone mail client, there are two locations for passwords. The incoming mail password is on the main configuration screen, but the outgoing mail password is somewhat hidden.
Please follow these steps:
- From the home screen, tap the Settings icon
- Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Select the account you wish to modify
- Tap SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server
- Tap the primary server
- Enter your new password in the Password field.
Q. I can receive mail on my iPhone but cannot send mail. What do I do?
A. Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) may be incorrect. Make sure the mail server is mail.inmca.com with port 587 or secure port 465 (see the settings page for other port numbers when using SSL)
Q. Why am I not receiving some e-mails on my phone?
A. The Blackberry and iPhone only check for e-mail every 15 minutes. If you leave Outlook running on your laptop, it may download messages to your inbox and delete them from your server before your phone has had a chance to pick them up. The e-mails will still be in your inbox, but they will not be forwarded to your phone.
One solution is to save a copy of the e-mail on the server long enough for your phone to get it. In Outlook, go to Account settings, select the account, click change e-mail
Select More settings, then choose the Advanced tab
Click Leave a copy on the server
Set to Remove after 3 to 5 days (not too long as this uses server space)
This should solve the problem of missed e-mails.
